This year Macklemore was chosen as a part of XXL's Freshman Class, and on October 9th Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis released their first album, The Heist. The duo is from Seattle, Washington – their song "My Oh My" will make any listener wish they were a Mariners fan. Their music is known for the combination of songs with powerful messages and harmonic melodies (like the battle against drugs for hip-hop culture and Macklemore personally in "Otherside") and songs with witty commentary and energetic samples (the stereotypical pop song "And We Danced"). The Heist has a similar juxtaposition with songs from "Same Love" (which was explained in an earlier post) to "Thrift Shop" and everything in between.
Below is a promo video for the deluxe edition of the album which includes three extra songs - "Castle," "My Oh My," and "Victory Lap." Also check out several music videos from songs on The Heist. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are in the middle of "The World Heist Tour" so check out the dates to see if they are performing near you.
