Unsurprisingly, with his debut album right around the corner, Kendrick Lamar releases "Backseat Freestyle" to continue to feed the fire of anticipation. good kid, m.A.A.d. city releases on October 22. On first glance this track appears to be simply a hard-hitting banger with some clever wordplay by K. Dot. However, I believe the title is a reference to the subject matter and viewpoint from which Kendrick is speaking. This track is from the viewpoint of the kid in a mad city who isn't controlling his own destiny, he is simply riding in the backseat. Then again, I could be totally off. But that's part of the beauty of finding your own interpretation.
