Some collaborations you can never see coming, until they happen to smack you in the face via the internet. Seeing as how I had never even heard of Florida punk rock band Whole Wheat Bread in a context outside of my high school lunchroom experiments, I'd say this mixer definitely qualifies. Murs was never exactly afraid to step out and do his own thing, from his amazing hair to his memorable music. So while I am surprised at this record at first glance, it works quite well and I'm not too surprised, or upset, to see continued innovation from Murs at the end of the day. I have no shame in saying that this record dropped over a month ago. If y'all hadn't heard it, like me, there's never a better time than now to catch up. This record confirms my belief that we will continue to see more collapsing of the segmented music cultures we currently have (hip-hop, rock, electronic), and see more sharing until we see a more united front of youthful, quality music. I can't confirm that this will definitely happen, but I can hope right?
