When Phonyland dropped at the beginning of this year, countless heads were turned by the unique sound of the Brooklyn collective known as Phony Ppl. The eclectic group's mix of hip-hop, soul, jazz, and funk lured in many new fans, and created a new lane in the genre. A modern, young version of the Roots? Maybe. But with so many different aspects. Phony continues to delve into uncharted territory, and listeners will be sure to appreciate it. It's definitely been a great summer for new music. "Read more" to download.
